This classic Montessori material may be introduced to infants as soon as they can sit up independently and is a natural progression from the Montessori Object Permanence Box. The self-correcting nature of the coin box makes it ideal for independent play and exploration.

To use the coin box, an infant places wooden coins into a slot located on the top of the box. The coins momentarily disappear into the box. he infant then pulls out the drawer to find the coins. A baby who is still actively developing an understanding of object permanence will often engage in long periods of repetition with this task, until mastery is achieved.

It is good that before starting activities with this material, the child has mastered the activities with the box with a drawer and a ball.
